We are committed to protecting user privacy while delivering a fast, lightweight, and completely local PDF viewing experience.

Your documents remain strictly confidential. All PDF rendering, thumbnail extraction, and page navigation occur entirely locally on your device. We never upload your files to any remote server.

Simple PDF Viewer is free for everyone. To maintain and support ongoing updates, we display non-intrusive banner advertisements provided by Google AdMob at the footer of screens.

We do not require user accounts, logins, or personal identities. We do not track, collect, or monetize your name, contact list, reading habits, or document contents.

Minimal & Transparent Permissions

Storage access permissions are requested solely to read the specific PDF files you choose to open. We do not access, scan, or modify any other media, folders, or files.

Document Processing & Local Storage

Simple PDF Viewer is architected as an offline-first document viewer. When you open a PDF file through the in-app file picker or via external applications (such as Files, Google Drive, Zalo, WhatsApp, Gmail, or web browsers using "Open With"):

  • Local Engine: The document is parsed and rendered locally on your device using an embedded PDF.js engine loaded via an internal secure asset loader.
  • No Cloud Uploads: Neither the document content, metadata, page count, nor generated thumbnail images are ever transmitted to our servers or any third-party cloud infrastructure.
  • Temporary Caching: When receiving files through Android content URIs (from sharing or messaging apps), a transient copy may be stored in your device's isolated temporary cache to enable smooth streaming and navigation. This temporary cache is strictly local and subject to regular system cleanup.

Device Permissions & Usage

The application requests only the minimal set of permissions necessary to function:

  • Storage / Media Access (READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE): Requested on Android 12 and lower only when you use the system file picker to select a PDF document. We only read the file that you explicitly choose.
  • Internet Access (INTERNET): Required to serve embedded PDF viewer assets through a local WebViewAssetLoader domain (isfree-pdfviewer.local) and to load advertisements from Google AdMob.

Advertising & Third-Party Services

To maintain the application as a free service, we display banner advertisements supplied by Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK).

Google AdMob may automatically collect and process certain non-personal diagnostic data, such as:

  • Anonymous device identifiers (e.g., Google Advertising ID, IDFA on iOS).
  • Coarse location or IP address for regional ad delivery.
  • App performance, ad impressions, and click interactions.

Google's use of information collected through their SDK is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. You can manage or reset your advertising preferences and opt out of personalized ads at any time through your Android device settings under Settings → Google → Ads.

Children's Privacy

Simple PDF Viewer is a general-utility document tool. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe that personal information has inadvertently been provided to us, please contact us immediately so that we can promptly remove such information.
